Contemporary Music Engraving

The engraving of contemporary music requires special attention to detail, as a lot of the elements used by contemporary composers are not easily reproducible by notation softwares. Therefore, it is only by the usage of an array of softwares, including Sibelius Ultimate, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator, that one is able to engrave high-quality contemporary scores.

BIO

Jean started studying the electric guitar at age 12, due to his passion for rock and heavy metal music. His teacher often presented him with new musical influences, and just as it was for many others, Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring was an important turning point in his musical interests.

He soon took an interest in classical music and composition, and at the end of 2018, he wrote his first piece of music. He then began his studies with the composer and professor of the São Paulo State University (UNESP) Marcos Mesquita. Under Marcos’ teachings, Jean explored the music of other composers and approached composition in an in-depth manner.

Jean then decided to pursue his studies abroad, and after a while chose Paris. He has since studied two years under the direction of the composer Éric Tanguy. He currently pursues degrees in music history, analysis and composition under the direction of José Manuel López López at the CRR de Paris.
